Our arrival in Mexico City was very uneventful, customs was smooth and our friends were there to greet us and take us to their wonderful apartment in the very plush suburb of Palenco. We settled in and caught up with the news from the Trickey family as well as what life has been like in Mexico City for them over the past few years.

That night they took us to a fantastic traditional Mexican restaurant. The steak here is usually extremely thin and marinated with spices. Kath tried a traditional chicken dish from the state of Oaxaca, chicken served with a “mole” a dark rich chocolate sauce with about seven different variations depending on what spices and chilli is used.
